Carrol and Amelia Carroll his wife, John Brooks and Almira Brooks his wife and Richard C. Sherwood of the city of Albany in the county of Albany of the first part and Thomas Hansard of the same place of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of the United States of America to them hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby confessed and acknowledged have granted aliened, remised, released, enfectted and conformed and by these presents do grant alien, remise, release, enfecff and confirm unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever. All our and each of our, right, title interest and claim to the premises hereinafter conveyed vis: ALL that certain piece of ground situate in the new eighth late second ward of the city of Albany being parts or lots number sixteen and seventeen as designated on a map of Patroon Street filed in the office of the city Surveyer of said City and bounded as follows on the east by part of lot number sixteen on the north by parts of lots number sixteen & seventeen being twenty feet wide, in front and rear and eighty feet in length on each side the parts of the lots hereby intended to be conveyed being the southwest corner of lot number sixteen and the southeast corner of lot number seventeen together with all and singular the hereditaments and appartenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title and interest claim and demand whatsover of the said party of the first part either in law or equity of in and to the above granted premise with the said hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the above mentioned and described premises with the appartenances and every part and parcel thereof to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever, and the said William D. Yates by deed dated February 10, 1841. Sherwood and Mary... ————————————————— [1851 Newspaper article Albany Argus fultonhistory.com] MORTGAGE SALE—Whereas, default has been made in the payment of the moneys secured by a mortgage executed by John Brooks, of the city and county of Albany, and Almira his wife, to Narcisse Remond, of the same place bearing date the 25th day of October, in the year of our Lord 1849, given to secure the payment of four hundred dollars, and recorded in the office of the clerk of the city and county of Albany on 25 Oct 1849, in book 75 of mortgages, on paged 140, &c. at 31/2PM upon which said mortgage there is claimed to be due at the time for the first publication of this notice, the sum of four hundred sixty two dollars and eighteen cents, and no suit or proceeding having been instituted at law for the collection fo the amount so due a aforesaid, or any part thereof; now, therefore, notice is hereby given that by virtue of the power of sale contained in said mortgage and in pursuance of the statute in such case made and provided, the said mortgage will be foreclosed by a sale of the premises therein described at public action, in the rotunda of the Merchants’ Exchange in the city of Albany, on the 20th day of November 1851, at 12 0’clock noon of that day.
