LAND | 1819 Apr 23 Pennsylvania, Washington County James Milleson to William Jackman This Indenture made twenty third day of April 1819 between between James Milleson of the County of Washington and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania the one part and William Jackman of the same County and commonwealth of the other part. Whereas a patent dated the 17th day of October 1781 for 301 acres an allowance of 6% of land situated in Pike run Township in the county and commonwealth aforesaid issue to Clement Biddle who conveyed the same to William Pollard, Charles Pettit and others who by their attorney David Reddick Esq. by deed dated the 26th day of September 1796 conveyed the same to John Buffington who with Sarah his wife conveyed the same to the James Milleson dated the eighth day of October 1796. Now this indentured witnesses that said James Milleson in consideration of $375.75 to him and paid by the said William Jackman… The following described part of the above-cited tract of land BEGINNING at a white oak thence by lands of Amos Ailes and Robert Gregg N55° W179 perches to a heap of stones thence by the said James Millison land N36° E91 perches to a post and S53 1/2° E159 perches to a heap of stones thence by Amos Ailes land S36° W87 perches to the place of BEGINNING Containing 93 acres 157 perches and 6% allowance be the same more or less… 1824 Oct 10 Pennsylvania, Washington County — [FHL Film DGS 8036096, image 192-193 of 370] James Milleson to Seth Buffington This indenture made the 26th sixth day of the 10th month and year of our Lord 1824 between James Millison of Pikerun Township in the County of Washington state of Pennsylvania of the one part and Seth Buffington of the Township County and state aforesaid of the other part. Where as John Buffington and Sarah his wife did by deed dated the 8 Oct 1796 convey a certain tract of land lying in the Township of Pikerun aforesaid called Surrey to James Milleson containing 301 acres in the allowance of 6% for roads etc. Said tract of land being surveyed under the direction of the said John Buffington is found to contain 394 acres with allowance etc. Recorded in the office for recording of deeds in and for the County of Washington in book M, page 442 and the 12th day of October A.D. 1796 …James Milleson for said in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Seth Buffington t…a part of the above-mentioned tract of land called Surry. BEGINNING at a heap of stones the corner of Moses Jackmans land thence by land of Robert Gregg N53° W49 perches to a post thence by land of Jacob Bowman and John Springs N37° E224 perches to a heap of stones thence by land of Thomas Dillard and John Davis N53º E51 perches to a post thence by land of James Millison, Moses Jackmans land S35 1/2° W230 perches to the first mentioned heap of stones and place of BEGINNING Containing 57 acres with allowance for road etc. but according to the resurvey to the direction of the before mentioned John Buffington it contains 157 acres with allowance etc. be the same more or less… | |
Will | JAMES MILLISON, JR WILL Be it remembered that I James Milleson of Pike Run Township, Washington County and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being in good health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory tho far advanced in years and knowing the uncertainty of time here have thought proper to make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. That is to say first it is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses with the proving of this my will shall out of my effects be fully paid and satisfied. 2) It is my will that all my moveable property be sold and the money arising therefrom be equally divided among and between my seven children Caleb, Sarah, Mary, Lydia, Anna, Abigail and Rachel share and share alike. 3)It is my will that my son James Milleson shall have one dollar in addition to eighteen hundred dollars he has already recieved. 4)It is my will that my son John shall have my part of that plantation that he has now in possession viz ?sorein to him his heirs and assigns forever. 5)It is my will that the farm I now live on shall be appraised according to law then if Samuel Ashmead will take it at the appraisement and pay to my seven children Caleb, Sarah, Mary, Lydia, Anna, Abigail, and Rachel the money arising therefrom equally with the restrictions hereafter mentioned that it is Sarah's and Anna's shares to lein on the land and the draw the interest therefrom yearly then he shall have the farm but if Samuel don't wish to take it on them conditions then it is my will that my son John shall have it on them same conditions. And if my son John don't wish to it then it is my will that if any of my other children or grandchildren will take it on the same conditions they or any of them shall have it but if none of them will take it on them conditions it must be sold at public sale and the money it brings or sells for to be divided as above my daughters Sarah and Ann's shares is to be a lein on the land and the interest be paid to them yearly during their lifetime, and at their deaths all their shares of my estate that they have not then received must be equally divided among their children that is then living or as Sarah and Anna shall direct. 6)And I do hereby authorize and empower constitute and appoint my son John Milleson and my son in law Samuel Ashmead my lawful Executors* to this my last will and testament as fully and effectually in all things as I myself could do were I personally living either in selling land or other estate and I do hereby utterly revoke and disanul all former wills or bequeaths by me at any time uttered or made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
