- Rotmers/Röttmer is possibly her mother’s birth name.
Annetje Barents’s mother, Geesie Barents, so called because she was the wife of Barent, was in this country, at Fort Orange, as early as 1642, when she made a joint will with her second husband, Pieter Jacobsen, calling herself Cysje Pieters, meaning wife of Pieter, in which all they property was left to her daughter, Annatje Alberts, meaning wife of Albert. Geese was still living in 1667 as she was a sponsor at the baptism of her great granddaughter Cornelia a daughter of Roeloff Swartout and Aefje Albertse Bratt.
